The City of Hueytown has flourished under the leadership and guidance of Mayor Baumann. He has spearheaded many of the improvements made in the Hueytown community in both the business domain as well as city affairs.
One of the first accomplishments of the mayor and his administration was annexation of the Virginia Mines Fire District in 2005, increasing the size of the city to approximately 25 square miles. Additionally, the opening of Hueytown’s largest retail area, the Publix Shopping center along with the opening of a state-of-the-art Walmart, has been overseen during Mayor Baumann’s tenure in office.
Working closely with Jefferson County officials as well as area legislators, his leadership through the Metropolitan Planning Organization and Regional Planning Commission has led to much of the progress currently enjoyed in the Western Jefferson county area. Additionally, Mayor Baumann has worked closely with business interests as well as the Jefferson County Board of Education to obtain 108 acres of property located in the rapidly expanding Virginia Mines area. This prime location now accommodates the new Hueytown High School which has since opened.
A Hueytown resident since 1958, Mr. Baumann was a 1971 graduate of Hueytown High School and attended the University of Alabama in Birmingham. Since 2001 Mr. Baumann has held the position of President of Baumann Coatings, a major applicator of industrial coatings used throughout the construction industry.
Mr. Baumann has been involved in community activities for a number of years including his memberships in the Lions Club and the Hueytown Quarterback Club. He was a founding member of both the community-wide Springfest program as well as the Citizens Advocating a Return to Excellence educational committee. Through Baumann Coatings, Mr. Baumann is an involved member of both the Bessemer and Hueytown Chambers of Commerce.
Mayor Baumann has two daughters Candace Baumann and Carla Rheuby.
